Currently a total of 2.3 million dollars in scientific research activity is being conducted at Ñý°®Ö±²¥â€™s John D. MacArthur campus.
Ñý°®Ö±²¥ students have access to state-of-the-art tools to research and explore across multiple levels of analysis, from super-resolution microscopy that can illuminate the detailed organization of molecules and cells in the nervous system to automated screening systems to assess the behavioral impact of brain disease-causing mutations, to vivo physiological and to behavioral imaging platforms that can interrogate specialized areas of the thinking, human brain. Students also have access to research core facilities at the Scripps Research Institute and the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, as well as the human brain imaging tools at University MRI, Inc.
Ñý°®Ö±²¥ Jupiter offers opportunities for students engaged in research and scholarly activity to present their findings either through poster/visual arts presentation or an oral/performing arts presentation.
SYNAPSE is an annual neuroscience networking event for students and research scientists in collaboration with Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience and Scripps Florida Research Institute. The SYNAPSE event is focused on the trainees and is designed to exhibit their work and enhance the connectivity across the campus. Students and postdocs are the workhorses and tech-transfer engines of the research endeavor, and this event is intended to create new synapses and strengthen old ones among our many members. Many of these posters and recent publications have authors from multiple institutions demonstrating the collective effort of the group.
The annual Integrative Biology Retreat brings all the graduate students in the Integrative Biology (IB) PhD program together as well as recruit’s new students. The event is intended to inform current and prospective students about the ongoing research projects in the Ñý°®Ö±²¥ Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and College of Medicine and provide graduate students the opportunity to participate in an atmosphere much like that of a national meeting. Each year, the IB Retreat highlights the on-going research projects and invites outside speakers and alums to inspire, motivate and educate a broad audience of students. This annual event is hosted by the Association of Integrative Biology Students and the Association of Biological and Biomedical Students.
Ñý°®Ö±²¥ Wilkes Honors College celebrates the academic achievements of its students with its annual Symposium for Scholarly and Creative Research. All Wilkes Honors College students are engaged in interesting research and creative activities, including their senior thesis projects. The Symposium showcases honors students and their projects in a one-day event that includes a series of concurrent talks, a poster session, and a visual arts presentation. The event is a celebration of academic achievements of its students, and includes a presentation from Dr. David Sun Kong as part of the Chastain Honors Symposium Lecture Series.
Hosted by Ñý°®Ö±²¥ Jupiter campus partner, the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI), the annual Sunposium conference brings hundreds of the world’s most esteemed neuroscience researchers together to highlight the challenges, latest findings, and advances that address some of the most complex issues at the forefront of understanding neural circuits.
