Meal Plan Accommodations
Students having trouble making food choices at the Atlantic Dining Hall due to food allergies/intolerances or a medical condition, please visit the Dine on Campus page and follow the steps for dining accommodations:
Students who have a severe allergy, dietary disability, or medical condition which precludes them from safely eating in the dining hall with accommodations, may be eligible for an exemption from the required meal plan.
Exemption Process:
- Complete SAS
- Submit completed Business Services Meal Plan Exemption Request Form
- Submit documentation of your disability (documentation specifications below)
- Speak with an SAS Consultant to discuss if an exemption is necessary. Potentially meet with a representative from Dining Services if accommodation may be more appropriate.
Documentation (all of the following is required):
- Meal Plan Accommodation Verification Form or a letter on letterhead from a medical doctor including your medical condition and why such medical condition prevents you from fulfilling your dietary needs through a campus meal plan.
- Copies of all tests performed that substantiate the diagnosis including the date taken.
- If it is not a severe allergy, student must also provide: A diet you are to follow for your medical condition. This includes a sample menu for meals/snacks for 3 days, foods you are to avoid, and foods you can eat. This diet plan should be provided by your medical doctor.
If you submit an exemption request and the meal charge has been placed on your account, understand that you are responsible for all payments by deadlines. It is recommended that you pay for your meal plan and if your request is approved, a refund will be processed from the date the request was approved. You are responsible for all charges up to that date.
